Infrastructure Work Begins

Having grown tomatoes on the front porch and a few down below at ground level in a large pot, we decided to convert some unused space at ground level to construct some raised beds. While these are on the east side of the house, observations from last year as well as our success with the tomatoes, makes us optimistic that these areas will get enough sun. And so, the infrastructure work begins.

The first space is between the brick path and the house and required removal of several cinderblocks. We then excavated about 6-8 inches down, having found the soil full of undesirable junk left over from construction.
